Within a few hours,Harley-Davidson will unveil the new Sportster powered by the Revolution Max engine with a 975cc displacement.
Back in 2019, Harley-Davidson introduced the first information of an unprecedented engine, an all new liquid-cooled V2 called the Revolution Max, which debuted in the Pan America 1250 and the Sportster S.
In addition to the current 1250 displacement, Harley cited the 975 cc version capable of 115 horsepower, using the V-Twin engine used on the Bronx concept that was presented with that V-Twin.
The Bronx has in the meantime been set aside, and with the Revolution Max of 975 cc the new Sportster mentioned above is expected to cover the space left by the 883-1200 series, the famous air-cooled series.
Today's news is that the initials of two other variants of the Pan America have circulated on the Harley-Davidson website. These are the RA975 and RA965S .
These model numbers appeared in the accessories section, linked to a lockable fuel cap as appropriate for the new Pan America 1250 and 1250S.
This information was only briefly shared on the website and was quickly removed afterwards, indicating it was not meant to be shared at this moment.
It should be explained that in the internal nomenclature the Pan America has the code RA1250 , while the Special has the code RA1250S. The first two letters indicate Pan America adventure bikes.
It is taken for granted that Harley-Davidson wants an adventure style bike with a smaller displacement and a price lower than the current Pan America 1250 in its plans.
It is therefore obvious that a Pan America 975 (RA975) will soon arrive, while the other version could be the Special variant.
The number 965 could have been chosen to better differentiate the model or it could be trivially a transcription error.
