The Honda CBR600RR was unveiled at the Suzuka 8 Hours. Although manufacture of this model in Japan is happily continuing for the American and domestic markets, among others, imports into Europe have not been made in many years. The biggest change from the previous generation is unquestionably the addition of winglets to a significantly revised front, along with alterations to the emissions.
The largest obstacle to the development of new sports engines, aside from the supersport market's waning appeal, is the pollution regulations. All of the Japanese manufacturers removed their 600cc sports machines from the market, with the exception of Yamaha, who maintained an R6 model that was "track only" in their lineup. It's surprising because Kawasaki did bring back the Ninja 636 early this year.
