Suzuki has unveiled a new sport touring version of their recently updated GSX-S1000 called the GT.
The bike has the same 150hp 1000cc engine as the naked version which was originally used in the K5 GSX-R. Suzuki has been using this engine GSX-S1000; Katana and GSX-S1000F models eversinds.
The engine is well known for it's smooth character together with adequate loads of torque combined with a raspy noise.
For the GT version Suzuki has wrapped the GSX-S in a new set of touring plastics and have given it a comfortable riding position.
The new fairings and mirrors are howned for aerodynamic sufficiency to reduce rider fatigue with hours of time invested into the wind tunnel.
Rider comfort is at the forefront of Suzuki's mind with this model, not only you get a big wind screen and body work to hide behind, the bars and footrests have added rubber to minimize vibration.
A lightweight assisted clutch, cruise control and a new seat designed for more comfort will make longer trips hassle free.
Suzuki didn't forget the pillion position, with a large seat and new grab rails to hold on to.
The naked bike's 19 liter fuel tank is carried over with no modifications to it, but Suzuki claims the same 300 km range. But the GT version adds 10 kg more weight, add this together with some luggage and maybe even a pillion rider, expect the fuel stops to be a little bit shorter on this version.
For a bit of bling, the GT gets a 6.5 inch TFT full color dash with full support for smartphone connectivity. This gives the rider access to GPS maps controlled via their mobile phone apps which can be controlled via the switchgear on the handlebars as well as the ability to receive calls, control music and even access your calendar. You also get LED lighting all around and Suzuki's intelligent riding system electronics suite.
KYB suspension and Brembo brakes are the standard GSX-S items, which mean 43 mm upside down manual adjustable forks and a preload and rebound adjustable rear shock.
The radial Brembo brake calipers bite into 310 mm twin front brake disks and a 240mm single rear and have a standard non-leaning ABS.
The Suzuki GSX-S1000GT is available as of November of this year and a choice of 3 colors: light blue called triton blue, darker blue called metallic reflective blue or black called Glass Sparkle Black.
This will put it in direct competition with the popular Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX which is clearly the bike Suzuki aims at.
